Cwmaman United 1 Merthyr Saints 7

Cwmaman suffered their heaviest defeat of the season but things could have been so different if Cwm had taken their chances.

Cwm completely dominated the first twenty five minutes and squandered several chances. Guilty of the misses were Michael Chapman who's 10 yard strike was blocked by the Merthyr keeper before he again missed with what seemed an easy header.

Kevin Bartley got in on the act and missed an easy header which went inches over the bar. Then on the break Merthyr broke down the right and an accurate cross into the area found an unmarked player at the far post who's header was powerful and accurate to find the roof of the net.

Cwmaman responded with 15 minutes of the half remaining when a powerful strike by Kevin Bartley levelled the game.

Then the madness started- three break away goals by the Saints in a ten minute period literally killed off the game.

After the interval Cwm knew that if they were to get back into the game then the all important first goal had to go to the home side but after 60 minutes a double strike from the Saints finished off any hope that Cwm had left in them and a seventh came with ten minutes remaining.

If Cwmaman had taken their earlier chances then this game would have definitely been different and also the score line hugely flattered the opposition but its goals that count and not missed chances.

Next week Cwmaman travel to play Penrhiwceiber Rangers kick off 2.30pm.
