Cwmtwrch 6 Ystradgynlais 20
After the excitement of the recent Grand slam campaign the supporters of Ystrad and Cwm were brought down to earth, while witnessing one of poorest games of rugby this season.
It was doomed from the beginning with Cwmtwrch unable to field a front row and having to lend three players from neighbouring clubs just to be able to field a side.
The windy snowy conditions were also against the two sides but Ystrad did use it to their advantage first half by scoring fifteen unanswered points with tries from Daniel Holsgrove, winger Ian Evans and power house Kieran Jones.
Ystrad looked dangerous when ball was spread wide but were limited to chances as Cwmtwrch played the poor refereeing perfectly as they consistently killed and slowed down possession.
The second half was even more dour than the first with negative tactics from Cwm and bad decisions from the Blues create a dull spectacle.
Cwm did manage to score six points in the second period with a tremendous long rang drop goal from Jason Addey and a delightful penalty from full back Scott Ribs.
Ystrad did manage to secure a bonus point with a try in the last ten minutes when flanker Kirt Thomas powered through for winger Ian Evans to take the pass and secure the five points.
It was a difficult afternoon for the Blues with every element seemingly against them, but retained their 118 year undefeated record against Cwm.
The Blues next game is against a much improved Glais team on Saturday at home.
